Baby its cold outside....

Today, as I neared the exit of my office building to go for a jog, the Capitol police officer stopped me (he usually does, just to chat) and said "Are you nuts!?!? It's cold out there." Who me? Nuts? Never been referred to as nuts :) Anywho, I informed him I was in fact not nuts and that I really enjoy running in the snow. Oh yeah, did I also mention it's snowing in DC? Frankly, I can't think of any better time that running in light flurries while the sun shines fiercely...I also refuse to be deterred by a drop in air temperature.

So, garbed in polar fleece running pants, two top layers and gloves, I hit the road today, and it was FANTASTIC! Really nasty head wind and all. I had the streets to myself (mostly...this is DC after all) and the body felt really good for the first time since 01 January. Here's to many more days of 30 degrees and snow flurries these next two months!

The first snow...

Maybe its not exactly the first flurry of the season (we had those before Thanksgiving but they never hit the ground), but the snow outside my window right now is beautiful. If you know coastal Maryland, you know we don't tend to get much significant snow accumulation. It often melts as soon as it hits the ground.

The snow outside my window is settling on the decks and lawns of my community to blanket us in white. That's what makes this morning's snow so fantastic. I doubt it will last until tomorrow, but I can enjoy it for now.
